Clinique 3-Step Skincare System - A Beauty Review

With the Clinique 3-Step Skincare System, you can just follow the numbers to your best skin. Clinique’s approach to skin care takes us back to basics: 1-2-3 is all we need to know.  Three steps targeted towards four skin types.  Let’s break it down. Step one is to Cleanse. Step two is to Exfoliate and finally step three is to moisturize. The three steps are the same no matter what type of skin you have. Only the products vary. It wasn't my first time using the Clinique 3-Step system. I had used it when I was in high school but had switched off it when my love for blogging beauty products kicked in. I was pleasantly surprised the results.

Of course, I went into Clinique, discussed my concerns and got the Clinique 3-Step Skincare System to suit my needs. 

Step One: Cleanse 

There are a few options when it comes to picking your Clinique Cleanser. The Liquid Facial Soap is a great basic cleanser that takes off makeup without stripping too much oil from my skin. On the other hand, Clinique’s newest cleanser, the Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam, has more cleansing power than the Liquid Facial Soap, something I really appreciate in the warmer months which skin can be more oily. 

Step Two: Exfoliate 

Now back in the ‘old days’ I was more of a cleanser and moisturizer girl, I didn’t exfoliate with each and every wash and I didn’t see the need to.  Thomas at the St Lukes Clinique counter, however, showed me somewhat of a magic trick and now I don’t look back. It’s called the ‘Back of the hand’ test, and it shows the importance of the second step of the three steps in the system.  On my left hand we cleansed and moisturized only and on the right, we did the complete Clinique 3-Step system.

I was horrified at how much excess oil the Clarifying Lotion was able to pick up, but not only does it show that the product works this experiment also demonstrated how important all three steps are. For the hand in which I applied all three steps, the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ just soaked into the skin beautifully.

To put it simply, the Clarifying Lotion allowed the moisturizer to do its job better! You need all three steps!

Step Three: Moisturise 

Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ is famous for a reason: it’s gentle and effective. The silky lotion sinks right in and moisturizes all day. I love the shape of the bottle and the pump dispenser. There isn’t much of a scent, another thing I love about it.

If you are after a lighter moisturizer I can suggest the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. 

If you suffer from frequent breakouts, there is even a special system for troubled skin, the Clinique Acne Solutions Clear Skin System. 

Overall: 

Overall I found the products affordable and they last the distance.  It took me over three months to get through the Liquid Facial Soap and I'm only half way through my Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel.

It is also good to note that the right skin care can mean better looking and longer lasting makeup.
